Throughout my time at the University of Denver, I had to write many essays to show my knowledge of Psychology. These are a couple of the essays I am most proud of with more to come when I begin more research. Click on the picture next to the description for a link to the essay.

Case Conceptualization of Lux Lisbon
For this assignment, I was to watch a movie on a selective list and think of the criteria one might use to diagnose the character. After reporting on Lux Lisbon’s mental illness in the movie, The Virgin Suicides, we were also to think about how mental health is portrayed in movies and shows. My essay describes my belief that Lux has bipolar II due to her mood fluctuations of erratic behavior to extreme withdrawal and suicidal ideation and that the media generally romanticizes mental illness.
Exposure to Sibling Abuse
Spring 2022, I was awarded the “Charlotte Henderson Research Award,” where I was funded to do independent research. It took a while to narrow down what I wanted to research because there are so many questions that I have, but I eventually settled on one. I ended up doing a scoping review on how abuse affects the non-abused, non-offending siblings. This topic had minimal research, making it difficult to find articles that fit the criteria. Eventually, we found four worthy articles that I wrote this blog on.
Child abuse affects more than just the one taking the hits, and they deserve some recognition for what they were put through during their childhood.
